|E-Filing Available for Criminal Cases in Nassau County Effective October 1st|
Yulee, FL – October 2, 2013 – John A. Crawford, Nassau County Clerk of Court and Comptroller, announces that his office is ready to receive electronic filing, or “e-filing,” though the Florida Courts E-Portal for criminal cases effective October 1, 2013, in accordance with the Supreme Court of Florida’s Administrative Order No. AOSC13-48. The transition from permissive to mandatory e-filing is an important step toward the Florida Supreme Court’s goal of “a fully electronic court system.” Pursuant to the Florida Supreme Court’s directive, Florida clerks began accepting filings in civil court cases on April 1, 2013.
“I am enormously proud of my staff for their efforts in having our office ready to accept e-filing in accordance with the Florida Supreme Court’s deadlines. While the transition from paper filing to electronic filing takes some getting used to for filers, mandatory e-filing will pay off in increased efficiency for customers of the court system and the public. E-filing will allow Florida clerks to more easily provide the public electronic access to nonconfidential court records in accordance with the Supreme Court’s goals,” Clerk Crawford said.
